This month:   Cherrie Wylie, Nominating Committee

Cherrie Wylie has accepted a position as Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Allegheny General Radiation Oncology in February 2008. Cherrie has been a member of GPC-ONS for the past 5 years.

Cherrie's favorite things about being a GPC-ONS member:   "Education opportunities:  The importance of being an oncology nurse is the ever changing role and the information that is available for nurses to improve their teaching skills.  With the patient as the number one element in health care educating them is obviously the number one goal for nursing.  GPC is a major avenue to provide this skill.

Her favorite GPC-ONS activities:    "I have been with Camp Raising Spirits for 8 years and continue to be an active part.  My family and neighbors are now participating."

Her favortie thing about oncology nursing:  "The role changes continuously.  This gives me the stimulation needed to improve my skills in providing quality can.  Oncology is a field of medicine that no matter what the outcome there is a satisfaction of caring for an individual the best of your ability through cure or death and both patient and family are thankful".

Who encouraged her to get involved in GPC-ONS?  Steph McMahon!  Her legacy lives on!
